Position Overview

We are looking for a driven, commercially minded Director of Business Development to accelerate Azra AI’s growth in clinical research at health systems and SMOs. This is a high-impact, senior individual contributor role for a builder who thrives on owning the full sales cycle and turning relationships into revenue.

You will work closely with various executive team members including the Chief of Clinical Research and Life Sciences, Chief Revenue Officer, and Chief Strategy & Product Officer to own the end-to-end sales motion: building target lists, running outbound email campaigns, preparing for and leading prospect meetings, delivering product demos, driving disciplined follow-up, and shepherding contracts to signature.

Key Responsibilities

Pipeline Generation & Outbound

  • Partner with the Chief of Clinical Research and Life Sciences to define ideal customer profiles, target account lists, and quarterly pipeline goals across health systems and life sciences.
  • Design and execute multi-touch outbound email campaigns and LinkedIn outreach to senior clinical, research, and commercial stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain a healthy, well-qualified pipeline in the CRM, with disciplined tracking of stage, next steps, and expected close.
  • Represent Azra AI at industry conferences, advisory events, and partner meetings to source new opportunities.

Meeting Preparation & Client Engagement

  • Lead prospect discovery calls, while delivering AZRA’s unique positioning and being an active listener to the customer needs.
  • Prepare tailored meeting materials, briefing documents, and account research in advance of every executive conversation.
  • Deliver compelling product demonstrations that translate Azra AI’s capabilities into measurable value for each prospect’s environment.
  • Coordinate subject matter experts — clinical, product, data, and engineering — to support complex evaluations and proofs of value.

Deal Management & Contracting

  • Own the full sales cycle from first touch through contract execution, including pricing, proposals, security reviews, and procurement.
  • Drive timely, persistent follow-up across every active opportunity, removing friction and keeping deals on track.
  • Lead contract development and negotiation in close partnership with the AZRA executive team
  • Ensure clean handoffs to implementation and customer success once contracts are signed.

Cross-Product Account Orchestration

  • Partner closely with CRO, Chief Strategy & Product Officer, and other Sales Directors across Azra AI's other product lines to ensure every account has a single, cohesive rollout plan rather than fragmented, product-by-product pursuits.
  • Prepare for and lead a weekly cross-product pipeline review, aligning on shared accounts, sequencing of conversations, and unified messaging to the customer.
  • Drive ad-hoc communication with BD counterparts on other product lines to coordinate outreach, share intelligence, and resolve conflicts before they reach the prospect.
  • Maintain shared account plans and forecasts that reflect the full opportunity across the Azra AI portfolio, not just the deals you personally own.

Strategic Partnership with the Chief of Clinical Research and Life Sciences

  • Serve as a true thought partner to the Chief of Clinical Research and Life Sciences on commercial strategy, positioning, and growth priorities.
  • Share market intelligence and competitive insights to shape product roadmap and partnership strategy.
  • Help define the playbooks, tools, and metrics that will scale Azra AI’s Clinical Research function as the team grows.
  • Bring a customer-first mindset to every commercial decision.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of clinical research business development with a strong record selling into health systems.
  • Demonstrated success owning the full sales cycle and closing deals with hospitals, IDNs, academic medical centers, SMO’s, or site networks.
  • Deep familiarity with the buying dynamics of health system, including clinical, IT, procurement, and executive stakeholders.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft outbound campaigns and lead executive-level conversations with credibility.
  • Highly organized and metrics-driven, with disciplined CRM hygiene and a bias toward follow-through.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Prior experience at a high growth-stage healthcare technology company.
  • Existing relationships with senior leaders in clinical research.
  • Background in oncology, real-world data, or care coordination.
  • Experience developing AI driven sales operations workflows to streamline process.
