About Commas
Commas is the full-stack growth platform for digital businesses. Whether someone is just getting started or building toward their next million dollars, we give them the infrastructure to do it — payments, checkout funnels, community, courses, affiliate systems, analytics, and everything in between, all in one platform.

The team moves fast, ships constantly, and is obsessed with helping people earn from what they already know. If you want to help make this market more accessible, this is the place.
Role Description
We’re seeking an Onboarding Specialist to sit at the intersection of KYC/KYB, underwriting, and seller support. In this role, you will:
- Review prospective sellers during the onboarding process to ensure the seller is not high-risk and compliance standards are being met.
- Communicate directly with sellers to request documents and clarify discrepancies throughout their applications.
- Make recommendations on whether to approve, escalate, or decline accounts based on clear criteria set forth by Risk and Compliance.
You’ll work closely with Risk and Compliance, Operations, Collections, and Leadership to keep FanBasis within regulatory, banking-partner, and card-network expectations while maintaining a positive experience for our creators.
Key Responsibilities
Underwriting
- Collect KYC/KYB documentation and supporting documentation to conduct comprehensive due diligence and verify accuracy of information provided to determine eligibility and associated risk.
- Analyze financial statements, reports, tax returns, and other relevant data to assess financial risk.
- Identify and document higher-risk cases and escalate to the appropriate personnel for more extensive review.
- Set precedents to predict account behavior and assign risk scores in accordance to internal playbooks.
- Perform a first past on seller screening alerts (OFAC, PEP, Adverse Media, etc).
- Prepare clear and concise underwriting summaries with both quantitative and qualitative insights.
Seller Onboarding & Communication
- Communicate with sellers in writing using proper, friendly, and in a professional tone.
- Guide sellers through completing ID and biometric verification flows and submitting acceptable business and banking documentation.
- Explain why certain documents are required clearly, while answering any questions sellers may have regarding their applications.
- Maintain productivity and turnaround times in line with department goals.
Qualifications
Required
- 1–3+ years of experience in risk, underwriting, compliance, trust & safety, payments, fintech, or financial services operations (marketplace, payment processor, BNPL, banking, or similar).
- Experience reviewing and interpreting bank statements, identity documents, and legal documents.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis.
- Proficiency in CRM systems, Skip trace software and Google Workspace.
- Strong written communication skills: you can write short, clear, professional messages that are firm but empathetic.
- Comfort working with structured workflows, playbooks, and SLAs in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
- Ability to analyze edge cases and escalate thoughtfully when something falls outside standard rules.
Nice to Have
- Certification or degree in Risk Management, Financial Risk, BSA/AML, Finance, or Criminal Justice.
- Experience with creator platforms, digital goods, or marketplaces.
- Familiarity with KYC/KYB vendors (e.g., Persona or similar), lien/UCC search tools, or card-network risk programs.
- Background in handling international sellers (e.g., passport-only KYC, cross-border business + banking setups).
Authorization to Work:
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. FanBasis is unable to sponsor or support employment visas at this time.
Workplace Philosophy at Commas
Culture eats strategy. The best ideas in the world mean nothing without the right people around the table and the right chemistry between them.
In-Person Matters
The businesses we work with are trusting us with their revenue, that kind of trust gets built faster in a room than over Slack. Being in-person means faster decisions, sharper collaboration, and the kind of alignment across sales, product, and risk that's hard to fake on a call. That's why in-office culture is non-negotiable at Commas. This is not a hybrid or remote role, the expectation is 5x a week in office.
Lifestyle Hours
We're not a 9-to-5 company. Our schedule mirrors our customers' early mornings, late nights, whatever the moment calls for. Building something worth building takes real time and real effort, and we show up accordingly.
High-Performance Culture
Commas isn't for everyone — and that's the point. We're built for builders, not passengers. We move fast, set ambitious standards, and expect people to rise to them. If you have the talent and the drive, this will be a ride to remember.
A Final Word
We're building something special, infrastructure that changes how millions of people earn a living online. It takes long hours and relentless effort. It's not for everyone. If you're wired to compete, build, and win, this is where that energy belongs.
