We believe that Every Idea Has a Material Solution.

About the role:

Material ConneXion maintains a physical and digital Database of material technologies. This Database is the foundation of our business, and we continually connect with new manufacturers and technologies. The Database is over 20 years old and has evolved over time to accommodate the needs of our clients. As we continue to expand, we have introduced new tools, features, and potential services to improve the Database and to assist our clients with the early product development process.

Over the summer, Material ConneXion is seeking a curious and persistent research intern who will help us update our Database. In this role, they will be responsible for reconnecting with MCX manufacturers, updating material information, and identifying new materials for the Database. The ideal candidate is vibrant, focused, and organized. They can effectively initiate, nurture, and follow-up with multiple manufacturers across a variety of material categories. The internship is expected to be 8-10 weeks with an option to extend if mutually agreed upon after the initial term; start and end dates are flexible.

We are seeking a candidate who is inquisitive, adaptable, and has a willingness to dive deep into the details. This role presents a unique opportunity to influence the core of Material ConneXion, while also fostering lasting partnerships within the constantly evolving materials landscape.

This is a paid internship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Excavate the Database and reconnect with material manufacturers to update material technology information.
  • Support Research and Operations by updating material details and sample images in the Database.
  • Identify exciting and commercially available materials for the MCX library, curating key details for descriptions and sourcing samples.
  • Support Research, Operations, IT and Sales in other core administrative functions.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student. 2024 graduates are also welcome to apply.
  • Background in materials science, textile/product design, or related fields.
  • Experience working with Excel spreadsheets.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to represent the brand effectively.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Attentive to detail and accuracy.
  • Highly driven and proactive with the ability to take initiative.
  • Resume must include expected graduation month/year and GPA and be in PDF format.
