Job Description

Overview: We are a private dental practice located in East Orlando seeking an experienced Lead Dental Assistant to join our team. We are not a corporation and pride ourselves on providing personalized care to our patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general dental assisting, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Work Schedule:

  • Tuesday to Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Friday: 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Responsibilities:

  • Welcome patients warmly upon arrival at the dental office.
  • Prepare and set up instruments, equipment, and materials as needed for procedures.
  • Ensure all instruments are sterilized according to health regulations.
  • Assist the dentist with 4-handed dentistry during procedures.
  • Undertake lab tasks as instructed by the dentist.
  • Provide patients with oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dental room, ensuring it is well-stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Schedule patient appointments efficiently and manage patient flow.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and assist with payment procedures.
  • Order supplies and manage inventory for the back office.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience as a dental assistant in a general dentistry setting.
  • Certification as a Dental Assistant is required; X-ray Certification is mandatory.
  • Experience with Dentrix software and digital x-ray technology is beneficial.
  • Proven knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods.
  • Understanding of health & safety regulations in a dental setting.
  • Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks like coronal polishing is a plus.
  • Excellent computer skills, communication, and people skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, well-organized, punctual, dependable, and self-motivated.

Education:

  • High school diploma is required; graduation from a dental assistant school is preferred.
  • Additional certification or training such as EFDA (Expanded Function Dental Assistant) is an asset.

Compensation: The position offers a competitive pay rate of 26 - 28 per hour, based on experience.
